LITTLE LORD OF THE DANCE

This is me fast-dancing with Kathleen Casey at my 11th Birthday party. I added new music for dramatic effect.

This is me jumping through my leg at a wedding. I did in fact land this move, despite the look of sheer panic on my face.

COSTUMES

I like making costumes. Most of them are obscure things from my childhood. The following are a collection of costumes I've made for Halloween and costume parties.

MR. MOM

I always wanted to do a very specific scene from Mr. Mom for Halloween, and when my friend Patrick grew a mustache, I knew I had found my Martin Mull. Here’s a film I cut of us at a Halloween Party. Apologies for the footage quality, it’s from 2012.

PRINCE

I bought this purple duster jacket on eBay 2 days before a Halloween party. The woman selling it couldn’t ship it in time, so I drove 2 hours to meet her at a mall where I tried it on. It was a women’s small and she was nice enough to peel it off of me. Then went to Hot Topic, bought a metal-studded belt it, sliced that thing up and hot-glued it to my shoulder. The Cloud Guitar is plastic and used to be one of those neon green deals you drink margaritas out of in Vegas, but I painted it white and gold and added the upper horn. Shirt was pirate, heels were cheap, buttons on pants were cardboard wrapped in foil, strap is 2 pillowcases tied together, and facial hair was sadly my own.

Overalls are Dickies. Just wrapped some spikey cardboard circles in foil and hot-glued them to the fabric. Heels were already silver, but I added some blue star stickers.

I bought a Nike Dri-Fit shirt and individually placed hundreds of glow-in-the-dark stars throughout.

NINTENDO ICE HOCKEY

My favorite video game of all time is Ice Hockey on Nintendo. It allows you to customize your lineup with a combination of players: Skinny Guy, Medium Guy, and Husky Section.

For years I've been trying to get my two friends to dress up with me, but they refused to wear rollerblades. So I dressed up by myself. Lots of spray paint was used.

JOHN CLAUDE VAN DAMME: HARD TARGET

I don’t think I ever watched this movie, but was told Van Damme had a mullet, wore double denim and punched a snake. This costume called to me and only took me 5 minutes to make.
