My art director partner and I started our advertising careers as interns at DDB Chicago. Our first office was a small trash closet where they put all the old foamcore presentation boards. People would open the door and slide the boards behind us. The space was so narrow that eventually I couldn’t roll my chair back to get in and out of my desk. Some of the greatest Home Depot catalogue art + copy was forged in this dungeon, but a year later we working on Bud Light + Budweiser Super Bowl ads and the “Real Men of Genius” radio campaign.
